If you’re visiting Korea for the first time, ordering at a Korean BBQ restaurant can feel a little overwhelming. There are so many dishes to choose from, and you might wonder how to ask for extra side dishes, order drinks, or request small changes to your meal.

Don’t worry! Learning how to order food at a Korean BBQ restaurant is easier than you think. And most restaurants are very friendly, and even using a few simple Korean phrases will make your dining experience much easier—and much more enjoyable.

Let’s practice some real-life conversations you can use at almost any Korean restaurant!

5. Ordering Food (주문하기)

👩 Customer A

저희 삼겹살 2인분 주시고요, 갈비도 1인분 주세요.

[Jeohui samgyeopsal i-inbun jusigoyo, galbido il-inbun juseyo.]

We’ll have two servings of pork belly and one serving of galbi, please.


👩 Customer C

그리고, 된장찌개 하나 주세요. 된장찌개에 버섯이 들어가나요?

[Geurigo, doenjangjjigae hana juseyo. Doenjangjjigae-e beoseosi deureoganayo?]

And one soybean paste stew, please. Does it contain mushrooms?

Now you know how to order food, ask for drinks, request extra side dishes, and even order more food like a local at a Korean BBQ restaurant.


One pattern that’s especially useful to remember is 빼- (to remove) and 더- (more / extra).

  • 빼 주세요 = Please leave it out.
  • 더 주세요 = Please give me more.

빼다 means minus (-) and 더 means more (+).

Once you remember these two expressions, you can use them in many situations:

  • 버섯 빼 주세요. (No mushrooms, please.)
  • 얼음 빼 주세요. (No ice, please.)
  • 김치 더 주세요. (More kimchi, please.)
  • 상추 더 주세요. (More lettuce, please.)
  • 물 더 주세요. (More water, please.)
